Welcome!

The Center for Women's Health Research officially became the Center for Women's Health and Gender Research (CWHGR) on September 1, 2004. Margaret Heitkemper, PhD, RN, FAAN, is the Director. The overall objectives are to continue and to expand our research mission through the two research cores.

The Research Development and Partnership Core focuses on developing and expanding collaborations among investigators who study women's health and gender disparities through collaboration between CWHGR and four research-developing institutions: Washington State University; University of Alaska, Anchorage; University of Hawaii, Manoa; and West Virginia University, Charleston; as well as University of Washington Bothell and University of Washington Tacoma.

The CWHGR is part of the University of Washington School of Nursing and is funded by the National Institute of Nursing Research (NINR), National Institutes of Health (NIH), grant # 2 P30 NR04001.
